Did you know that there really was an explosion of molasses in 1919?
It all happened on January 15th, 1919 when a 50 ft. tall and 90 ft. wide tank containing as much as 2,300,000 gallons of molasses collapsed. The collapse of the tank created a wave of this nutritious, yet extremely sticky, natural sweetener to rush the streets of the North End neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. The sticky event, aka The Great Molasses Flood or the Boston Molasses Disaster, has entered local folklore, and the residents of the neighborhood claim that on hot summer days the area still smells of molasses!

Why Mother Quinoa
Quinoa (pronounced Keen-Wah), from the Quechua word kinwa, originated in the Andean region of South America and has been a highly important food for the past 6,000 years. The Incas honored it as a sacred crop and referred to it as “chisaya mama” or “mother of all grains.” This staple crop was so highly honored that at the start of each growing season the Inca emperor would traditionally sow the first seeds using golden implements. Since the 1980’s this highly nutritional pseudo grain from the leafy green family has been slowly making it’s way into health food stores.

Wondering what the W.P. stands for?
According to old German folklore, witches used plants of the nightshade family to evoke werewolves, a practice known as lycanthropy. The common German name for tomatoes translates to “wolf peach”, and was avoided for obvious reasons. In the 18th century Carl Linnaeus conjured up binomial nomenclature to name species, and took note of this legend when he named the tomato Lycopersicon esculentum, which literally means, “edible wolf peach”. We thought we would shorten up the wolf peach and give this tasty pizza treat a bit of pizzazz.
